Some Reviews from Customer:

I have used Siteground for years, both as a previous agency owner, and now as a consultant. I am absolutely confident that if I get stuck with an installation that live chat tech support will get me up and running. They have honestly never failed to solve a problem. Always willing, polite and incredibly helpful I find the support staff a delight to deal with.

I have a vast background in web hosting the last 12 years (on a web development scale and have worked for 3 hosting companies), and currently have hosting accounts with around 8~ companies.

So far, I’ve been most impressed with Siteground. It amazes me how quickly my Chat was answered (within seconds), and how well spoken the individual was (English), and how real he was (we joked a little back & forth), and the answers to my technical questions were given immediately (he didn’t need to put me on hold and research it, he just knew).

Looking forward to moving all my business to SiteGround.

Siteground rocks. We migrated over about six months ago and the uptime has been flawless. We run a paid membership site and have over 700 members accessing our content on a daily basis which requires a lot of resources. We haven’t had any issues since our migration, which is fantastic. The support staff is always very helpful and their technical team is too. Highly recommend it for WordPress users.

What is SiteGround.com?

SiteGround prides itself on high quality services, and attention to detail in its support provision. It provides the full spectrum of hosts, from SSD-based shared hosting to managed WordPress, cloud, and dedicated servers.

Services and Specializations

SiteGround combines the latest technologies with a broad range of hosting plans. Even on cheaper shared hosting packages, SiteGround crams in features that other hosts sometimes skip over.

All packages come with managed WordPress options, including free site transfer, automatic updates, and WP-CLI for command line control. On its more advanced shared plans, customers get SuperCacher, Git integration, and the ability to create cloned staging sites. This puts SiteGround up there with some of the top competitors in the managed WordPress hosting market. It’s very clear about its commitment to both WordPress and Joomla!, with specific hosting packages tailored to both.

On all shared hosting plans, customers benefit from free daily backups, and SSD storage for snappier page load times. It provides free SSL certificates from Let’s Encrypt, and has free CloudFlare CDN integrated into its control panel. You won’t get some of these features from rival hosts, particularly at the cheaper end of the scale.

Cloud hosting is a flexible form of VPS hosting, including full management, instant scaling, and a choice of 4 CDN datacenter locations. Its dedicated server packages are also fully managed, and include the same WordPress benefits as the shared hosting plans.

Infrastructure

SiteGround uses datacenters in Chicago, Amsterdam, London, and Singapore. This gives customers the option to choose their closest facility, improving load times for their websites. All plans include the option to choose a datacenter; just use the drop-down list on the checkout page and select the one closest to you.

This isn’t the only way SiteGround puts speed at the center of its service; it also runs NGINX rather than Apache on shared and cloud plans, and offers SuperCacher on some packages. SuperCacher is a custom cacher built on NGINX reverse proxy, and SiteGround also deploys PHP 7 for further efficiency boosts.

Many of the network monitoring and technical tools used at SiteGround have been developed in-house by its team, including a custom take on Linux containers, a bespoke backup system, custom server monitoring tools, and security features developed in-house.

Support and Customer Service

You can pay for your hosting with most common credit or debit cards, including American Express, or from your SiteGround wallet. Contracts last for 1, 2, or 3 years before automatically renewing.

SiteGround offers support 24/7 every day of the year, and by phone using local phone numbers for many countries. Its operators are based at the company, and speak English. It has a ticketing system for written support inquiries, and the expected response time is published on its website.

The company uses load balancers for support requests, ensuring that enquiries are spread efficiently over available operators. It provides support on hosting issues, applications, and modules or plugins for your chosen CMS or platform. This is unusual, because support for scripts and applications is a step beyond the assistance that most hosts provide.

Within the first 30 days of your contract with SiteGround, you can apply for a full refund if you wish to cancel. This guarantee applies to all products except paid support, domain names, cloud hosting, and third party services. For a full list of terms, see SiteGround’s legal disclaimer.

Uptime Guarantee

SiteGround’s uptime guarantee on all hosting is 99.9%, which would allow approximately 44 minutes of downtime over one calendar month. However, uptime is measured over the course of a year.

Here’s the good news: credits for excessive downtime are automatic. You won’t need to apply for a credit if uptime falls below the published figure. A credit for one month’s hosting for every 1% of downtime will be automatically posted to your SiteGround wallet. Credits cannot exceed your current contract term, or 12 months, whichever is shortest.

Summary

SiteGround has clearly thought about its services in great detail, and goes the extra mile to provide services that other hosts skip. It ticks all of the boxes for WordPress and Joomla! hosting, and its backups and speed boost services are well designed. SiteGround doesn’t offer monthly contracts, so be sure to check out the service within the money-back guarantee period to make sure it meets your requirements.
